Student Life

Charlotte Secondary’s goal is to challenge our students academically while addressing the needs of our diverse student body. We value smaller class sizes, individualized learning and a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. We aim to help those students who have struggled in larger learning environments to thrive and meet their full potential.

Our students in grades 6-8 have the following core classes all year long:

• English Language Arts

• Science

CSS embraces a Comprehensive Liberal Arts education with a focus on civic education, the humanities as well as college prep. Liberal Arts, the Humanities and College Prep are all intertwined in our electives and special interest clubs. We offer electives and clubs that employ critical thinking, problem solving on real world issues and communication and collaboration. Our students participate in electives such as Socratic Seminar,  Philanthropic Leaders, Financial Literacy, Success Prep,  and Business Analytics just to name a few. CSS interest clubs include but are not limited to chess, debate, creative arts, Spanish and African American Studies and Horticulture. Our Juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate in Dual Enrollment, where they attend CPCC to earn college credits that can later transfer to a four year college or university.
